Peplum

I'm afraid my face wasn't equal to this feeyorce pohwze so I cropped it out nyehehehe
A Peplum is defined as a "Short overskirt that is usually attached to a fitted jacket, blouse or dress" (Wiki); it's one of the trends of Fall 2012 (according to the NY Fashion Week runways); and for plus size gals like me, it's a clever way to emphasize the waist while hiding a tummy.

A peplum is easy to do, too. You don't need to buy a new jacket with that ruffly doodad attached to it. All you need to keep in mind is the basic silhouette: tailored top, slim-fitting bottom, ruffly goodness in the middle. That can mean adding a skirt over your pants a la the crazy genius that is the Man Repeller. Or, do as I do:

Take one blousy, billowy top (Magarbo), layer a tapered cardigan (Landmark) over it to give it shape, add a skinny belt (Landmark) to define the waist, and let the blousy bottom form a peplum over your tailored pencil skirt (Due). Pair with simple pumps and accessories...

Like a wooden necklace from some random beach, and leatherette bangles (Shape) and enamel bangles (Singapore and Malaysia) and BOOM!

Over and out.
