One of my favorite fashion "tricks" is juxtaposition - combining two opposing elements and working the style from contrasts. In this outfit I wanted to wear one of my frilly fluffy summer dresses. To make it work-appropriate, I paired it with a more structured jacket and it gave it this whole soft/tough dynamic that is so appealing. Add the right accessories and the whole look's one of my all-time favorites!

Growing out bangs phase. This length's actually my favorite -- it lasts about two weeks and then it's too long to see through and I just let it grow out -- now my bangs are almost to my nose and I'm too lazy to cut them. Anyway this length is perfect for side-sweeping and getting that Veronica Lodge sort-of retro look, which I think adds a nice dimension to this tough/soft look!

Check out more photos and accessories!

White dress, thrifted from my tita's closet; jacket, Giordano; shoes, B Club. This jacket's been with me since 2006 and it's just the gift that keeps on giving. Can't beat that high collar and military vibe to add some structure to a frilly dress!

Aside from the silver eQuip bangles, layered necklaces also help with the juxtaposition. An ivory tusk pendant (from Bangkok) looks a little "sinister" and an equally chunky bead necklace (SM Department Store) makes sure nothing's too dainty and cute. Studded shoes pick up the tough vibe and completes the look.
