Low key pencil skirt

I was so happy when I got these stretchy pencil skirts from Forever 21 a while back, as they're versatile and a great addition to any wardrobe. The first instinct to pencil skirts is to up the vavoom, figure-hugging factor; but I decided to go the other way and be all Low-Key Lyesmith about it.

I took a page from my friend Jen from Style in Real Life (excellent blog!) and paired the pencil skirt with a casual, loose top.

(You've seen this lace top several times and I just love it. Thrifted from Magarbo, it's got a Japanese label and just has this lovely organic pattern and loose, square cut that I am so addicted to. Recently I got a slouchy ikat Gap shirt from my mom that may just give this old staple a rest.)

But wait, there's more!

Finished the look with my recently resoled nude Forever 21 brogues.

If there's one thing I wish I did, it's to pile on more accessories. Several necklaces and a party of bracelets would've pushed this look to 11! #regrets

Credits: Forever 21 shoes and skirt, Japanese shirt; Hygeia tank top; Girl Shoppe bracelet; Aksesorya capiz pendant. I neglect to  mention that this NGF Moody watch, which I've been wearing since Christmas, is from the Natasha Goulbourn Foundation, which benefits sufferers of depression.

The shoes and the skirt are an unusual combination, but you really pull it off quite well. Great overall look.
